The Historical Collections rare book collection contains approximately 5,000 rare or unique books on a variety of health science subjects. Special emphasis is placed on books, atlases, and other printed materials dealing with Medical College of Georgia and health sciences history from 1800s to the present. The collections are 19th Century, Landmark, MCG Authors and Theses. The books are listed in GIL@mcg.
19th Century: The collection consists mostly of books found in the original 19th century library at MCG. The collection is strongest in British and American medical literature. It also has about 600 foreign medical books, mostly in French.
Landmark in Modern Medicine: The collection is comprised of out-of-print classics from the late 19th and early 20th centuries that were significant in the development of modern medicine.
MCG Authors: The collection contains one copy of books written or composed by MCG Faculty and staff.
Theses: One copy of students' theses is kept in the permanent archival collection. |
